Principal's Page
The year is quickly progressing as we move forward with our exciting initiatives at Bedminster School. Students and staff have been diligently working to utilize technology in new ways in classrooms across the grade levels. All of our grades one through four classrooms utilize Activboards on a daily basis along with several classrooms throughout the middle school grade levels. Visitors to our classrooms often enjoy seeing students engaged in Digital Storytelling, Podcasting, PowerPoint slideshows, United Streaming and the use of the Audacity program, to name a few, to enhance our lessons. Many of our upper grade teachers use tablet PCs in order to engage our middle school students in lessons as well.
Our staff has also made great strides in Professional Development as we have implemented "Professional Learning Communities" (PLCs) in order to positively impact student learning and staff development. A PLC is composed of collaborative teams whose members work interdependently to achieve common goals linked to the purpose of learning for all.Teachers meet in groups to form grade level PLCs to discuss common assessments, thematic units, writing prompts, etc, with the end goal to increase student achievement. We also have formed PLCs that focus on content areas such as math, reading/language arts, science, social studies, world languages, etc. Teachers in our special areas have formed PLCs to collaborate across their specialty areas.
Throughout the year, I have had the pleasure of meeting many new students and their families. I hope that all of our students have enjoyed the new learning experiences that Bedminster School has offered and that they have made new friends as well in the process. Each year, it is fun to see our students mature and grow as they interact with their peers and teachers.
