Teaching in special education for 11 years, I have discovered how to adapt to and manage adversity, work on multiple teams, and differentiate instruction, tailoring lessons to all learning styles. Throughout my career, I have found that to be an outstanding educator you must be a lifelong learner who welcomes feedback from colleagues and supervisors to enhance your qualifications. Furthermore, I have been a leader for elementary as well as middle school and high school teams helping to design and implement curriculum. This experience has given me the opportunity to work closely with teachers, administration, recreational, speech, occupational and physical therapists. Lastly, to be an outstanding educator it is vital to have a solid and open line of communication with parents and supplemental instructors such as a student’s speech therapist or one-to-one aide. I value a team approach when it comes to learning my students and educating them throughout the year.
