The district employs a full Child Study Team consisting of a School Psychologist, a School Social Worker, and a Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant to evaluate students by psychological, educational, and social assessments. The School Psychologist is trained to work with children and assess intellectual, social, and emotional development. The role of the School Psychologist centers on prevention, intervention, and consultation. The Learning Consultant evaluates a child’s competencies in school subjects and other areas, such as perceptual and language development, and makes educational recommendations according to student strengths and weaknesses. The School Social Worker serves as a liaison between home, school, and community and is trained in helping families understand factors which contribute to a child’s success or difficulties in the school setting. Please see below for contact information and schedules for the Child Study Team Members. In addition to evaluation and case management responsibilities, Child Study Team members provide assistance to teachers, families, students and staff through extensive consultation and counseling services. These consultation services are available to all members of the school community and are not necessarily confined to special education needs as defined above.
