August 1, 2018
Dear Bedminster Community Member(s),
Welcome back to school! Hopefully, our bulldogs are excited about the 2018-2019 year. The first day of school is Thursday, September 6, 2018. Back to School Nights will be held the last week of September; please check the web page for more information. Our district goals have been established by the BoE and they are located on the information tab of the school website. This year we will focus on Student Achievement, specifically in the area of Math, overall Wellness that includes supporting social, emotional, behavioral and mental needs of students, and Safety and Security for students and staff.
With the assistance of our dedicated staff and supportive community, we will continue to shape well-rounded, informed students through our professional and creative teaching staff, the use of the most current state approved standards, updated curricula, and differentiated instruction based on student needs and abilities. We will continue to offer clubs and activities for elementary and middle school students. STE(A)M projects will still be offered through technology class and in classroom settings. We will continue to promote wellness through physical education and guidance programs and by using the outdoors for learning and social activities for students. All departments continue to infuse lessons that are interdisciplinary, including infusing financial literacy and career awareness. K-8 ELA programming will be enhanced with new leveled literacy interventions and benchmark assessment systems that will be rolled out by our reading specialists. Our Math Department will continue to review current materials and new programs, as well as communicate with our neighboring school district in an effort to align curriculum and resources for students to have similar experiences as students come together in high school.
The administrative, business, front office, technology, PTO, and buildings and grounds departments are still busy getting the school and outside area ready for our students and staff. Genesis will house most information and documents families will need throughout the school year. As the school year progresses, more information will become available and you should have already received access to Genesis from our Technology Manager. In our ongoing effort to reduce the amount of paper sent home, we continue to move toward more electronic communications. Be on the lookout for our electronic notices.
Continue to build relationships with your child’s teacher and join the PTO with Mr. Swan for their regularly scheduled meetings throughout the school year. Join the BoE at our meetings, typically held on the third Thursday of each month. Also, check the school homepage for any corresponding news alerts sent home from the administrative team. We also post exciting pictures and events on our web page, Twitter, and Facebook page. Please kick off the school year by joining me and the rest of our administrative team for parent luncheons on designated Tuesdays from 11:00 - 11:45 am. These will be informal times for us to meet and discuss the happenings at our school. If you can make it, bring a brown bagged lunch or snack, and join us:
● Gr. Pk - 4 parents Tuesday, September 18, 2018
● Gr. 5 - 8 parents Tuesday, September 25, 2018
I look forward to seeing you soon. Again, welcome back to Bedminster School. Go, Bulldogs!
