Weather and Emergency Related Closings

School Closings/Delayed Openings/Early Dismissals

Notification of a school closing, delayed opening (10:50 am) or early dismissal (1:30 pm) due to inclement weather or other emergency situations will be communicated to parents/guardians and the community via the following methods. It is imperative that parents/guardians keep contact information updated in the event that school personnel need to make contact.

• A phone call and email will go out to parents/guardians

• A notification message will be posted on the school home page (pop up page)

• A notification message will be posted in the Genesis Parent Portal

Child Care - Before/Aftercare

Unplanned delayed openings and early dismissals: before and aftercare will run weather permitting. If it is unsafe, the YMCA will cancel, and they will reach out to families directly. If afterschool activities are cancelled and the school is closed, the YMCA will also cancel child care.

Unplanned school closings: the YMCA will host a Kids Day Out (weather and staff permitting). The earliest that it would start would be 10:00 a.m., and it is contingent on the YMCA facility schedules. The location is the Somerset Hills YMCA.
